Pitch to Blumhouse Production

If I had to make a pitch for Blumhouse Productions it would be such an honor. This company founded by Jason Blum has achieved ground breaking films with such a low budget. Some of their well-known movies (shown below in order) are: The Purge, Happy Death Day, and Paranormal Activity.

Which Company Did I Chose and Why:

Blumhouse productions has inspired my film with a few of their most successful movies. The majority of this company produces films under the same genre as my opening: thriller and suspense. Blumhouse Productions would be the perfect candidate to distribute my film opening because they already have the necessary foundational experience. Apart from this, my film will generate an increase in revenues because the audience will be introduced to a new and upcoming creator (me).

Film Synopsis:

Natasha and Daria are two teenagers who seem just as every other student within their university. They pass through two separate and lowkey lives that isn't noticiable to any one else. That is, until someone knows what they did. With a simple text, a private number is able to hit an eerie nerve within these girls. Someone out there knows what they did, will they find out who before it's too late?

Funding towards film and distribution:

The main reason  why Blumhouse Productions caught my eye is because of their very low budget that is able to bring in 5 times as much profit. Jason Blum has made it very clear that money is not much of a factor if the person behind the camera can make magic. To give you a better idea, the 2007 Paranormal Activity movie was made with a $15,000 budget and grossed over $194 million. With that being said, this film will have the low budget of $20,000. Since I am relatively new to the market, I am allowing myself about $5,000 extra in order to correct errors and mistakes that occur. Nevertheless, I expect this company to make this a blockbuster hit!

I plan to distribute my film with a series of trailers about 5 months before the premier. I'll allow distribution through ads on YouTube, Google sidebars, and Facebook. Apart from this, I will be sharing and expecting my friends to repost the trailers and movie posters through our social media accounts. The engagement can reach worldwide attention with the free marketing tactic of "word of mouth."

Once released, I'd like it to hit local movie theaters first and some streaming platforms like HBOmax. Once out of theaters, I'll finite a contract with Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime to air my film. These are some of the biggest streaming platforms there are.

Now, why should they chose me?

After all this typing of my choice, we must consider their thoughts. Blumhouse Productions should partner with me because my film demonstrates the difference between a regular student and an AICE Media Studies student. With the knowledge I have acquired from teachers and classmates, I know I can be their youngest film director. They'll notice my use of technical elements such as camera shots, the unity of diegetic and non-diegetic sounds, and effective editing. I believe my film will speak for itself!
